MINDFULNESS

Mindfulness is the central pillar of all the mindset skills.

The natural state of the human mind is easily distracted, it is often akin to a "drunken monkey". The mind can be trained to be more disciplined through the use of a mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a way of focusing on the present moment without judgement.

There are two pillars: awareness and insight.

Training mindfulness builds awareness of your thoughts, emotions, physiology and environment.

Deep awareness of your experience in the present moment can lead to insight and generate greater wisdom.

All good things happen in the present moment: love, life, interaction with other people, beautiful experiences. It is a challenge for all of us to be in the present moment enough. We all miss the beauty and wonder that is inherent in the present moment every day. A daily mindfulness practice can give you the awareness that allows you to pull yourself out of your thoughts and into the present moment on a more regular basis.

Those who practice mindfulness are more able to tap into the flow state which is the most optimal state a human being can be in. Mindfulness improves concentration and focus and allows people to perform better in daily life including in challenging situations.

Sitting with eyes closed focusing on the breath can be a simple and effective form of mindfulness. As the thoughts rush in allow yourself to see them and then gently let them go. With every thought, see the thought and let it go. Then bring your mind back to your breath.
